Quote of the day

****************************************************************************** Happiness?
It is an illusion to think that more comfort means more happiness.
Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply,
to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life,
to be needed. - Storm Jameson ****************************************************************************** Just noticed that it already 40 degrees in our garden. I was so happy to be in the local supermarket this morning. So nice and cool. I bumped into an old friend who was delighted with a pack of frozen peas to cool her head :) Happy to catch up with her for a coffee. Now of to work

  1. Good idea! I will use that for hot flashes. Although it's cold enough here right now, if I just open the door for a sec, that should do it.

Hope you are well, Marja. I thought for a minute you were in Australia, but I'm glad to be reminded it is New Zealand.

  3. It´s crazy...your temperatures are so high and ours we have snow here again!
But 40°C are definitive to high for me!

  4. A lovely post. Just what I need today...
The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy.- "The Dalai Lama".

  5. I guess I see happiness as an emotion which touches down, brushes you and then leaves. It seems fleeting and different than joy. If I had to define joy, I think I would describe it like the quote....

but that's just me. Joy just seems like it seeps deeper and can stay around longer....

  6. Dana words are just labels in this case for feelings. It's interesting to see that concepts can differ a bit. But this quote is mainly where happiness comes from and that is for me surely the case

  8. Hi Marja

Thanks for sharing the happiness quote.

I define my happiness when I can smile anytime of the day amid any kind of weather. Using this as my happiness gauge, I can say I have found happiness again. It is a wonderful feeling, and my many friends in cyberland have contributed to it.

To Marja and all those who read her blogs do have a very happy Saint Valentine's Day.

  9. This quote is really true; Hapiness is really difficult to describe and has nothing to do with money. Little things can make someone happier than expensive gifts.
