Castle gardens Arcen - kasteeltuinen Arcen

The castle of Arcen, in the background of this photo, was built in the 17th century by the dukes of Gelderland. The present castle was built on the remains of the former castle.
The castle in a state of decay and the grounds were sold to the Foundation The Limburg landscape and they turned it into a little paradise as you can see below.

Gardening is the art that uses flowers and plants as paint and soil and sky as canvas. Elizabeth Murry

How lovely is the silence of all growing things

There are four storks living here and soon there might be more :)

A wonderland of colours

Thailand fisherman house

Looks like a small terracotta army

Advise from a flamingo

Wade into life
Stand out in the crowd
spend time with your flock
find the right balance
show your true colour
Don't be afraid to get your feet wet

  3. I've heard of Aachen castle but not of Arcen castle. It's a pleasant surprise, definitely worth a visit. I like in particular, the fountain picture and the Thailand house picture. The flowers are awsome. The flamingo's advice is relevant to human beings too.

  11. Wat een kunstwerk die eerste foto! Aan de foto's te zien lijkt het er op alsof jullie een heerlijke, zonnige dag hebben uitgezocht voor het bezoekje aan de tuinen.

    Did you compose:
"Wade into life, Stand out in the crowd, spend time with your flock, find the right balance, show your true colour, Don't be afraid to get your feet wet."
    Wise words my friend.

  17. I am behind reading blogs, as usual, but I went and read all the back posts I missed on your blog. You showed us many beautiful pictures of Holland. What an interesting trip you had. The castle at Arcen is a fantastic place to visit – thanks for taking us there. I also loved the statue of the baker boy on his bicycle – a great capture.
