Spark of Spring

Last weekend we went to the park to enjoy the Spring. Above an impression of the beauty we experienced.
I enjoy getting older because eventhough there are still obstacles which put me down from time to time, I feel I am not alone anymore.  People or occasions seem to present themselves,  providing support and answers as by coincedence or synchronisity.

When you are young you think happiness is something to search for outside yourself. When you get older you start to realise that it is found inside yourself. You become more and more the person you are in essence. It's like coming home. There is no energy in pretending anymore and you start to become aware of people and beauty around you.

The following poem, I came across, gave me a spark of recognition and I loved it.
Love after love
The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

  5. Nice poem! Getting older is not bad as long as you are resonably healthy and mobile and sound of mind and spirit. Thanks for your visit. I know that in NZ people like to talk about the weather too!

  7. Beautiful words! Happiness does come from within! Unless you are receptive to happiness, then no amount experience will create happiness! It's all in the attitude of the mind and spirit!

Wonderful to see you blogging again!

  9. Definitely! As a teenager I remember worrying about things like being too tall, my hair not looking right, or that I had to start wearing glasses while in high school.

Now I like the fact that I'm 6 foot, 5 inches. I don't worry about hair looking right since it is falling out in at an ever increasing pace. I'd like my eyesight to bet better though, eyeglasses are a pain and I'm not a candidate for corrective eye surgery.

  17. Hi Marja!

And adore the poem! Amazing how it takes age and passing time to realise that your own self is not a bad persona as is!
