Not off to a good start

Wishing you peace, love and joy in 2012
Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right. Oprah Winfrey

What we don't get right yet is the way we wake up in Christchurch. We were craddled roughly this morning. Craddled? It was more like the bed ended up in a hyperactive wave in a storm. Before I got seasick though it was over again. 5.5 Magnitude we learned and the shakes and jolts kept coming. Luckily it is holidays and we could sleep in.
The weather is also fantastic. Not. We left in the rain on the 30st of December for a trip and after two days of being immersed in rain drops we learned that we had swapped the quakes for flooding. They told us that road which would lead us to our next destination was closed. So on the 1st of January we were heading back home. We had still some fun though.

Now let's hope we used up most of the bad stuff.  We just left the best for later. One of that will be that half of June me and my son go to Holland. Holland be prepared. Zet de koffie maar klaar.

  1. Sorry to hear of the trembling start to the new year. I hope it improves for you.

Let the earthquakes be mild for you there in your dutch corner...

    tot snel

  3. Hi Marja .. more quaking .. it keeps on doesn't it - as long as it's not major .. but turning over and going back to sleep ... I'm not so sure.

Gloomy rainy days .. but light streams ahead with your June visit ..

I do hope all goes peacefully ahead .. and enjoy the rest of 2012 .. cheers Hilary

  4. What a rotten start to the new year. I hope that better times lie ahead, and that Holland will be stable and fun and restful for you.

  5. Thanks Diane. Would be good we had enough

Oh thanks Yvette Ik kijk uit naar een lekker bakje

Thanks dear Hillary Yeh I can see the light

Thanks dear Juliet and yeh rotten is the right word :)

  6. Sorry to hear that,Marja. This isn´t a good start into the new year.I heard also from a new earthquake around Christchurch and all days I thought to you and your family.
I wish you and your family a lucky and peaceful new year 2012.I have written to you a letter via snail mail but I am not so sure if you will receive him.I hope it!

  7. Not good news at all Marja, it is certainly not fair that Christchurch is still being hammered by these terrible aftershocks.
Sending my light as always across the ocean to your door.
    Lots of love
    Peggy xxxxxx
PS I included that Oprah quote on my last blog post too!

  8. Sorry to hear your country is still suffering from earthquakes, must be frightening. Well the rain is everywhere I think, even here, we have a very wet, warm winter instead of skating and snowballs. Best wishes for 2012.

  9. I remember when we lived in California, and earthquakes were a regular occurrence. Still better than tornadoes, imho. Wishing you happy traveling and a happy New Year, Marja!

  10. Disappointing to hear of this very rough start to your New Year, Marja! As you say, perhaps the worst is over and this unpleasant reminder of the past can now be left behind for good. May your troubles be small (if they must come at all) in what I hope will be a joyful year ahead for you and your family.

  11. Ik maak wel verse koffie voor jullie ;-)

Happy New Year and hopefully the weather and Mother Earth will behave much better this year!

  12. Well, keep hoping that the year just gets better from this point. Wishing you a blessed 2012.

  13. Yes when I saw this story on the news here I thought of you. How much more can one place withstand I thought. Thinking of you :o)
