Free to be me

Free to be me
by marja

Overloaded
I discovered my limits
which limited me
to be free
One of my petals
blinded my eyes
unable to see
the whole flower
I asked the universe
to give me guidance
to return my vision
and to be free to be me

On Joy and Sorrow  Kahlil Gibran

Then a woman said. Speak to us of joy and sorrow And he answered:
Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater thar sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.
Love Marja

  1. Hi Marja, those are beautiful and profound words indeed and they must have touched you very deeply for you to write them down here. What is happening in your heart of hearts? Is there such sorrow there?

  2. Hi Irene Thanks these words did touch me deeply and gained me some insight. I am all right It is just that if I want to extend my horizon or simply do more things in a day , than I hit a brick wall. My brain can't handle it just turns of. It is so frustrating that it makes me mildly depressed but these words put me back on track

Thanks Missy.Yes the words of Kahil Gibran are indeed very magical

  8. Beautiful poêm and really a beautiful video. It is so true what you can see there : be satisfied with what you are.

Mooi gedicht en ik vind de video prachtig. De zin "you are a real value to the world" is zeker van toepassing voor U. Jij bent echt iemand van grote waarde voor deze wereld waarin wij leven.
