Dark days for Christchurch

Thank you for all your emails, comments etc. We just got our power back and I expect the power back at work tomorrow. I would love to go back so I am able to do something and give people a hug.
This time it is so bad as lives have been lost, people are trapped and our beautiful city is totally broken beyond repair. Because we just have our TV back we only now could see the extend of the damage and devastation and it is just unbelievable. It is going to take a long time to recover but we will get there. We will work hard to move forwards. My kids have seen a lot as they were in the middle of the city when it happened. My son just wants to get out of here and I don't blame him. There seems to be a a guy who is called the moon man who has foretelled the first and this quake and he seemingly has said that the biggest one will come on 24th of March and a lot of people are now afraid. Aftershocks keep coming and we hold each other each time the house shakes. Again thank for all your support and pray with me for the people who are stil trapped under the rubble.

  1. You and your family stay safe! Heard the first reports on American news shows and the pictures were terrible.

  2. Hallo Marja,
Toen we gister de beelden zagen heb ik zo aan je gedacht!
De aarde is zo onrustig at your corner of the earth.
Alles wat we kunnen doen op afstand is aan je denken en voor jullie bidden.
We zijn als mens zo nietig, we zijn niet opgewassen tegen natuurgeweld, in wat voor vorm dan ook.
    Lieve groeten,
    Jacoba

We are thinking of you, all of us here in Australia, and me especially. So many traumas. you may be safe but the fear of more must be relentless. It will get better again, as you say but in the meantime, hold firm, our thoughts are with you.

  7. Relieved to hear you and your family are safe. This time looks like it created a total havoc. I watched some amateur videos posted online. Really terrible. Sad to hear many died. Will keep you in my prayers. God bless.

  8. I’ve been thinking about you, Marja, and all New Zealanders in your area. So glad you and your family are safe. Interesting about the moon man. Such doomsday scenarios are everywhere. If one were to believe them all there would be no point in getting out of bed. I am sending good wishes your way for an abundance of help to recover and reconstruct.

  10. I'm so happy upon hearing the good news out of the aftermath of the latest devastation to strike Christ Church, that you, my loyal friend, and your family are safe. My heart bleeds for those folks who are not among those who have survived. I hope and pray that their grieving families find strength to cope in their loss.

At the moment all I can see and hear on the various kinds of media is much devastation, pain and man's inhumanity to man; truly the world seems to be on a collision course, but we must never lose hope and faith that brighter days are ahead. I truly believe that, because God has never failed mankind yet. These are the testing times for us all not to sit on our laurels, but pick up the pieces with renewed determination and resolve. My plans for returning to NZ sometime soon with my son has not change; the delay in this matter hinges on the fact that I'm still in the process of completing the manuscript of my latest book. I cannot delay AuthorHouse any longer, so hopefully it will be out by early spring once I get the completed manuscript to the publisher by the end of February; I have only five days left.

    Take care my friend

  13. You have been in my thoughts, Marja ever since I heard that it was Christchurch that was affected. I am greatly relieved to know you are safe, but I do feel for those how have been lost, are injured, or missing (and of course their families are in my mind too).

I will continue to pray for you and all in your region. Are you thinking of leaving New Zealand? Is that what you mean when you say your son wants to get out? I can understand that. Would you go back to the Netherlands do you think?

  14. Glad to hear that you and your loved ones are safe. I have been worried about you. It must have been and continue to be stressful with the aftershocks. Was there any damage to your home? Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone in Christchurch. Peace.

  18. Hi Marja..interesting that you mentioned the 'moon man'. I am a Kiwi who lives in Queensland, Australia and have received a few emails from people saying that there will be big floods and cyclones about the same time because of the full moon. Now I don't know but it seems to be a bit of a malicious rumour because you didn't get an earthquake when we got a flood and vice versa. I am glad you and your family are fine!

  25. Marja! I've been following the news and have also been in touch with close friends who had just moved to Christchurch a few weeks ago for a six month stint tied to the university. They are living close to the city centre. Like you and your family, thank God, they were not hurt or injured.
I cant imagine the post trauma everyone in Christchurch and area are feeling right now.....
My heart and prayers.... I have been sending as I think of you.
    Take good care.

  29. Dearest Marja,

It's been a week since you were back up and running and I'm just now able to check in myself on a computer. I was so thrilled to see you comment this evening. And I am so immensely grateful that you and yours are unharmed. There will be hard times ahead but know that there are people all over the world keeping you all in prayer as we hold you in our hearts. Love, Annie
