We lost an incredible man

Normally I don't keep up with the celebrities but one stands out for me and I was very shocked today to hear that Robin WIlliams has passed away. He starred in two of my favourite movies "Good will hunting" and "Dead poets society" He was incredibly funny and talented but remained a genuine caring human being. I light my candle on my sidebar in remembrance of him and hope he has found peace. My heart goes out to his wife and children.
Robin loved New Zealand and had friends here. He said "New Zealand was the closest thing to Heaven on Earth" and he also donated the money from a show to the red Cross after the first Christchurch earthquake. We lost an incredible man. Here an interview with him on the Graham Norton show.

"No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world"

"You're only given a little spark of madness You mustn't loose it"

  1. I too have been rattled by the passing of this great man. He won me in Dead Poets' Society. I saw that movie so many many times. Great to find a post from you. Hope your journey is a beautiful one.

  2. Hi Marja - very sad ... I heard a great tribute from David Hasselhof on our Today radio programme earlier on today .. we'll be seeing a lot more of his films, programmes and interviews in the next few months.

Depression is such a difficult disease to understand, and to cope with ... so his death is desperately sad for his family ... thanks for highlighting the snippet about tackling Kiwi! Hilary

  5. Amazing how many towns are connected to Robin Williams due to his giving nature. I have heard about his donations to food banks closer to home. It is inexplicable that a successful and popular entertainer like Robin Williams could have come to this.

  6. Unbelievable and sad. As a kid I used to love Patch Adams and Mrs Doubtfire.

  7. Thank you for another opportunity to enjoy Robin's zany humour - a brilliant talent. (Thank you too for visiting my blog and wish you well for your return trip to Holland)

  8. Yes, his passing hit me hard. At times, I find it difficult to accept that such special people leave the world far too soon while others who sow death and destruction continue and thrive.

  10. Yes it was a sad day to hear of his exiting this world, he brought lots of fun and laughter to it..
So many people with problems. And no one but he will understand the state of his mind that made him make the choice he did.. Sad indeed..
    Love Sue

    Sadly, depression knows no barriers.
