Trip to Frans Josef
We had a trip to the West Coast and OMG we were so lucky because:
We have traveled with our Dutch friends we know since we live in New Zealand. we did many trips with them.
We had a room at Hostel Franz Josef Montrose where the price is good, you receive breakfast and soup at 8 pm, the staff is very friendly and it is clean. Usually I don't give reviews but this is an exception. It is great to stay at a backpacker as you meet people from all over the world.
It had rained all week over there-the days we had were dry and we had a lot of sun shine as well-after the trip the rain will come back again. You usually never have snow on the mountains at this time of the year, but now we did. Because of the snow everything looked even more spectacular.
We had a great walk, visited two glaciers and had coffee in a top location On the way back we had some marvelous views on lake Mapourika We are so blessed. Underneath some photos. Hope you like it

Breathtaking pictures! I particularly liked the ones with the snow on the mountains, the man on the bridge and...the cup of coffee. Well, you live in a most beautiful country of the world, and its remoteness is an advantage, if you look at what's happening now in the world - we're probably on the verge of a bloody war in the Middle East which coud easily turn into a world war.
ReplyDeleteThanks Duta Indeed we feel here far away from the rest of the world. It is already horrible Let's hope that it doesn't get to a world war
DeleteOMG you certainly were lucky! What an amazing place. One day...!
ReplyDeleteKeith's Ramblngs is 10 today!
Hi Marja .. looks amazing and your photos are brilliant - so lucky to have that wonderful weather. Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThe landscapes are gorgeous; you are indeed blessed.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures always made me envious of you and your family! Totally stunning scenery!
ReplyDeleteMooie tocht heb je gemaakt, prachtige foto's.
ReplyDeleteI love how you made a slideshow, was it a pain to do? Great photos, some of them remind me of Oregon.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy I will do a blog post on it how to do it this week as someone else asked me as well
DeleteBreathtaking trip you had -love all the beach pics! And the car in the water - half amusing, but also feeling sorry! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful trip with ALL SEASONS! Of course it does not have to be a trip, "little daily" seasonal experiences are just as good:) Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteHi Marja, lovely photos you got there. I've just been to NZ once and i am envious at once with the people living there, my sister is in Auckland. We visited some places and the bus trip to Milford Sound was really great, love those snow caps and glaciers at the horizon. How i wish i can go there again and be in those mountains you showed.
ReplyDeleteRegarding my butterfly posts, i realized that they do not flutter as much in the cold than when in my own garden that is hot and drier. The area i went to is our highlands, subtropical, and the butterflies get difficultry flying much. So, thanks for visiting my blog.
What fantastic scenery! You were certainly blessed to witness such beauty.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling jealous, of course. What an overload of beauty.
ReplyDeleteLovely images....thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful slide. Thanks for your comment. Such a pity that the fishermen throw these shells away. They can sell them to tourists.
ReplyDeleteStunning shots of the Glacier. Not sure I'd cross that bridge though.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get out more! Can't believe all that fascinating beauty is so nearby. I loved the evening bush walk photos and several others but I can't recall all the numbers - maybe #13, #42 and actually all your photos are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThis looked to be a fabulous place.. Loved the slide show xxx
