Children of stardust
It rested motionless
in a riverbed
Sparkles leaping
from its shape
from its shape
a face of milky beauty
a body of stone
I put it in the palm
of my hands
I put it in the palm
of my hands
It warmed to me
it’s earthy longings
transcended into
perpetual peace
Glittering of wonder
it’s earthy longings
transcended into
perpetual peace
Glittering of wonder
it offered itself to me
As I pondered,
flakes of thoughts
formed unique carvings
in my mind and
flakes of thoughts
formed unique carvings
in my mind and
I sensed we spring
from the same source
I realised we are all
crystallised from stardust
crystallised from stardust
The
cosmos living
within
a tree
within a rock
within a rock
within
me
"As I pondered,
ReplyDeleteflakes of thoughts
formed unique carvings
in my mind" an amazing image.
I have often felt the peace of stones and boulders, whatever may have been their raging past.
We are all connected and one with this universe. "The cosmos living"...Love this.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very peaceful poem, Marja. I particularly enjoyed the description of the stone:
ReplyDelete‘I put it in the palm
of my hands
It warmed to me’;
and the lines:
‘flakes of thoughts
formed unique carvings
in my mind and
I sensed we spring
from the same source’.
Beautiful poem! I really liked the emotions :)

Great poem reflecting a great truth: we're all from the same cosmic source.
ReplyDeleteYes, you and the white stone in your palm come from the same stardust.
Peace residing in me - perfect.
ReplyDeleteI’m reminded by your words that although we’re part of everything and formed by stardust, humankind is the only creature, as far as we know, who contemplates all this as wondrous beauty. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is SO beautiful. I have had similar reveries about rocks......they hold such ancient history, such untold stories. A beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteNatural earthy items always bring me a sense of peace too...Lovely poem..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem as everything and everybody consists of universal energy.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful it was to read this poem Marja. If only more people could see the value of living forests, healthy rivers and oceans not cluttered up with our rubbish killing the fish and othe animals. Sadly humanity has so much to learn.
ReplyDeleteA sense of peace can indeed come to one when one realises that there is really no separation between one thing and another on this planet.
ReplyDeleteTrue... I sensed we spring
ReplyDeletefrom the same source... if only we can all understand that unity of creation.
Nicely done!!! I loved it.
ReplyDeleteThis connection is so pure, we need more of this, in understabding our task of stewardship to planet earth.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog
Much🕊💖🕊love
We are stardust...shades of Joni Mitchell. Back to the garden we must go. Lovely poem.
ReplyDelete“We are all crystallized by stardust “
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous poem of wonder!
What a wonderfully moving poem, Marja!
ReplyDeleteMarja How beautiful a poem this is, Indeed we are are all of us created from star dust holding the minerals the same as our Earth Mother within our form..
ReplyDeleteLoved the picture of your cat..
Some pieces of stone, just speak to us, and this one obviously called out.. <3
Marja, the other day I bumped into a boy who walked on the street with his Dad. He had a small stone in his hands, which he had just found and was admiring it greatly. I asked him why he was so fascinated by it and explained to him the glitter in the stone was a mineral. It was beautiful to watch his fascination. Your poem reminds me of that moment.
