Rosemarie from Poets and Storytellers United asked us to write about beginning.
I wrote before going on holiday I look forwards reading all your poems and posts again on Sunday when I get back.
Happy New Year to all of you!!
A new beginning
A new beginning looks like
honey dripping off today
It bursts into a careful smile
Careful as the dragon of fear
is still hiding under the surface
Fear as you crawled between
the sun and the earth towards a new start
the sun and the earth towards a new start
you shiver as old ways crumble
as you set your first step
on a new and gentle earth
on a new and gentle earth
A new start like this tastes like
cherries, plump and crimson
Offering a bite of anticipation
Let it be pleasing to your palate
Let it be the start of all things sweet
marja blom
It is refreshing to see new beginning at the start of 2024
ReplyDeleteOh, what a yummy poem! (Allusions intended.) Beautiful, Marja. Enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDelete"A new begining," you have written it so very pretty, and with such an optomistic vein bulging from your lines.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday!! And
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Happy New Year, Marja, to you and yours! Dragons are beneath the surface but I like the optimism in your new beginnings. If we go within … the outlook can become how we want it to be.
ReplyDeleteHappy and sweet new year to you.
ReplyDeleteHi Marja - new beginnings ... sometimes we need to note - you've described them superbly here - we are fortunate, so many aren't ... enjoy your time with family and Happy New Year - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of new beginnings being "the start of all things sweet". We need sweetness in our lives. And what a blessing it would be to get it right at the start.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Marja!
