Break Free

Rosemary from Poets and Storytellers United  invited us to write on being bound and/or breaking free

Break Free

Break free from the superficial
Dive deep into life
Be aware, absorb, adore
Always strive for more
joy love, and peace

Did you learn to react instead of act?
To control instead of respect?
This rhythm of imperfections
can be mended into a melody
harmonising heart and mind

Break free from the chains of society
Plant thoughts to grow in the light
of your original insight
Disbelieve those who say you’re weak
You are as strong as the force of a storm

Breaking free means removing
the bars from our mind.
opening the windows wide
Let the wind blow away your fears,
Until colours fill the shadows

  4. Yes "open the window" and let freedom reign. This works really well.

  5. The wise words in this piece encapsulate the path to freedom, sharing insight into how we easily can get lost and take a wrong turn: "Did you learn to react instead of act? To control instead of respect?"

  11. Sadly, breaking free is almost impossible give the expectations we often set for ourselves as well as believing in the delusions and lies people here in the States refuse to examine.
Yeah, I'm posting again semi-regularly. And I'm doing well but still on the heart transplant list.

  12. Dear Marja,
you find wise words on every topic. I think it is not easy for many people to free themselves - to become independent of social rules or to act instead of reacting. (Some don't even react, they just endure...) Those who (like us) have already recognized some of their own power find it easier...
Oh, I would love to dance now with you to the Queen song "I want to break free" 😊
    All the best, Traude
