The Tide Within

The prompt for What's Going on is "What makes you feel most alive?"

A small poem about the moments when life feels brightest

The tide within

There are moments
my chest warms and opens,
love overflowing,
the red of roses vivid enough
to intoxicate me.

There are moments
when laughter bubbles up
born from the deepest part of me,
the place that loves poetry
and forest paths,
the place with the tide-like curiosity
that combs the shores of the mind.

Light shimmers on that inner lake.
Mystery breathes.

When I touch that place,
my wings lift,
and I play in the symphony
of the universe.
That’s when I feel alive.

  7. I really feel like that much of the time. The wonder of nature is uplifting and fulfilling and I experience it daily. There is no substitute in material things or human association, wonderful though that can be at times.

  8. There is no doubt that the external component of our lives affects our inner well being (or otherwise) than we consciously realize.

  11. Dear Marja,
your poem is captivating and radiates a wonderfully warm and joyful atmosphere. And I think that, compared to many other people, you quite often play in the symphony of the universe. You certainly have that aura.
Hugs and all the best, Traude
PS: Regarding the "geishas" in my post, which I deliberately put in quotation marks — they aren't real geishas. But in Kyoto's old town, there are many shops where you can rent authentic costumes (also for men). And as we saw, this option is often and enthusiastically used 😊... There are numerous photo shoots among friends and couples. And most women are happy to be photographed by others, too, which we gladly took advantage of 😉.

Oh! This poem went direct to that place. It is magnificent! Not a wasted word, images that generate. Love!

  13. Zo knap gedacht en gedicht. Er gaat zo veel kracht en warmte van uit.
'When laughter bubbles up.' Het gelach borrelt op en je er dan aan overgeven. Daarin ligt de kracht van kunnen lachen wanneer je alleen bent.
Heb je er weleens aan gedacht om je poëzie te bundelen?
    Warme groet.
