The prompt for Poets and story tellers United is a love poem, or a love story, or at least one about love.

Light as a Thousand Stars
The moon watches her dance,
quiet as a secret held
in his arms,
as they step into the warm pulse
of a summer night,
in the river light
along the Seine.
The wind brushing in strokes,
his hands painting with silky touch.
His breath on her skin
murmuring je t’aime.
They write a poem
in movement.
The music wraps
its shadow softly
around two dancers,
carrying them
until their legs swirl
across the shining stones.
They touch them slowly,
one by one.
Each tap
a small drum of longing
deep, dark,
heavy as their hearts,
rupturing in sweet ache,
light as a thousand stars,
drifting
into a dream,
into the opening sky

"They write a poem in movement." I like that.

Maravilhosa poesia,Marja! beijos, ótimo fim de semana, chica
ReplyDelete...every day should be about love and this week certainly is!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ❤️
ReplyDeleteI'm mesmerized.
ReplyDeleteIt takes some doing to write a romantic love poem in words that ring true yet are new. You've managed it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWriting poetry in movement... I love that, in dance or in walking...
ReplyDeleteEverything here seduces, swirls, lifts yearning into rapture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful poem and what a glorious image your words paint... Lovely!
ReplyDeleteDe-light-ful, Marja! I especially love the simile, ‘quiet as a secret held in his arms;’, the metaphor ‘warm pulse of a summer night’ and ‘they write a poem in movement’.
ReplyDeleteLove is, indeed, a delicate dance and you express it beautifully and rhythmically.
ReplyDeleteLove songs, such a universal theme and so difficult too do as well as this, Marja...
ReplyDeleteLove is trillions of stars ~ my wish for all of humankind. That it's experienced, in all manner of ways. Lovely writing.
ReplyDeleteOh, how very French we are as we dance through the world of poetry today, dear Marja! I can practically see the Eiffel Tower glowing in the starlight behind the two lovers and its reflection in the Seine.
ReplyDeleteI've also read your previous poems, and I'm so sorry that I'm so much slower with my blog visits than you are with creating all these beautiful worlds of words and imagination! But you know I love your poems!
Hugs an all the best from Austria, Traude
