A broken city, broken souls and a flower

Just looking at a film on TV, called the dare devil. It's a bit like Superman where a Hero with super natural powers fights the dark forces and comes up for the weak.
It is not my piece of cake as it seems too easy, like in children's books. Real life seems more complicated . I try to make the best of it and try to make a little difference myself but  sometimes I am in a stage (like now) where you ask yourself do I do enough and can I really make a  difference. Sometimes I am in a stage that you just want to retreat as you see so much people
suffering.
When I was young I had the ability to make people laugh. That's why they liked me because I put a spark in their day. I felt a bit lonely though as they didn't want to hear about my serious side and therefore I felt a bit disconnected.
Now I am able to connect  but miss my playfulness. My brother still has the ability to make me laugh and he can brighten my day.
Anyway it makes me think about the meaning of life. I thought it was to love learn and grow. Or something like it. What do you think?
Sometimes I don't get the message. Why some things have to happen. Have no clue what to do when seeing broken souls around everywhere, how to help so many. I feel helpless and not being able to do anything for a while till I feel better again. I retreat to a smaller part of my world which are often the children at work and life becomes simple again, not exactly as in the dare devil, but still like in a children's book. Maybe that's where a flower grows out of the broken city.

Underneath a blast from the past.

  1. I read an article lately we are in a kind of interbellum. People are searching for something different like in the sixties when the youth stood up against the old way of life.
It seems the same is going on again, protests against the money dominated world and their leaders. Even nature is on the move by all kind of world wide disasters. We have to make the best of it for ourselves and cross our fingers we don't live in a warzone.

  2. A flower grows in a broken city...
When I had to leave my beloved Tasmania to find work in Melbourne, I felt lost and broken, but one image still stayed with me. There was a lone, small tree on our former property, far up the hillside. It was growing in a pile bark and weeds where a clearing had been made for cabins. And the tree was growing, determinedly, from the top of the pile! I can still see it. That image has given me strength.

I've had similar feelings but for a different reason. I'm almost two meters tall and for my entire life the first thing people ask is if I play basketball. Yeah, I did but after the sixth grade I was terrible at it. Of course no one wanted to listen to more accurate account so I just tell them no.

Long story short, it is a rare occurrence when someone sees past my height. It is far from the worst predicament someone might face but its still a pain.

  4. Thanks Bieb There is definitely something going on. It is like going through a dark bad winter which doesn't seem to end. As long as the sun come out at the other side

A tree growing through the pile, strongly and not caring about the circumstances Thanks

  6. Beach Bum yeh standing out creates in a distance. It is hard but maybe it is good as well to learn to be distant so we learn to think for ourselves

  7. I find children always give me hope when I'm feeling down.
    And laughter, always the laughter.

I wish you strength through the hard times.

  8. I agree about the importance of laughter. Yes … a troubled world can certainly sap the joy right out of life if we let it. It IS all beyond understanding at times and empathy is a nice quality to have but people need to know that the good listener needs it too. It is what gives us hope like a flower growing out of the rubble.
