Shabby Chic market

At the end of the year there is a lot going on. Holidays, Christmas, end of year functions and fairs. Everything happens at the same time. Markets and fairs are increasing in numbers. My favourite one is the monthly shabby Chic market in Woolston.

The market is in and around this cottage, complete with life music for the atmosphere.

There is also a place where you can have some coffee and show your goodies to your friends

One of the stalls where they had some great treasures

An old cottage next door
I came home with a lot of unusual things

This is a story board. There are bits and pieces broken off but I found it very intriguing. It is a big heavy wood carving. I think it is from the South Pacific or maybe Africa. It looks like a tall person gives the locals something to drink. What do you think is going on.

This is a cute little pill box

I loved this old key as I imagined that it was from an old wooden door back in time or maybe it can
open a treasure box

  1. What do you think is going on?

I'm not sure, but my first impression was that the locals were bringing the tall guy something.

    1. yes maybe they bring him some offerings. There is a ceremony going on as they play the drums around the man. Maybe the tall man is a missionair baptising a local

  8. Love your treasure trove Marja,, and that calving is interesting.. One could imagine all sorts.. A Knight in armour, maybe? Reminds me of the old Elisabeth an days looking at the dress of the Giant One.. Maybe it was when they had to load up ships? But its certainly a wonderful calving..
Love the little Pill box too.. And what a great venue to sell your bric-a-brack .. Much love to you Marja.. Enjoy your treasures I am sure they will get used and put in a place of pride

  9. The cottage looks very dreamy, is someone living in it? And I am loving the pillbox. And I must admit I am a bit jealous for the great weather you guys seem to be having over there :-)

    1. I think the cottage is empty as there was lots of stuff for sale in it and it is every month. We don't have a great summer though
Cold winds and lots of rain

  11. I’d love to visit this market! I like your treasures. About the key – depending on its size, my grandfather in France had just one like this to open his house back door. It was pretty long, maybe 2/3 the size of my hand.

  12. Oh cool This key is about the same length and guess what I bought it from a French lady :)
