Last week we travelled with my brother, to the North Island which was beautiful. I'll show it to you soon. Today we went up and down Arthur's Pass to walk to the Devil's Punch Waterfall. I didn't take my camera as we have been here lots of times but there was a cold snap last night and the Pass looked spectacular. That's the difference; The North Island is beautiful The South Island spectacular. Anyway I took some pictures with my phone Not as sharp but you have a good idea how it looked like.
Even the foot hills of the Southern Alps were snow capped but as the temperature rose it was all gone when we returned.

On the way back we followed a gravel road beside Lake Lyndon and ended up after a long drive at Lake Coleridge
Hi Marja, my first travel outside my country is Sydney and after many countries traveled after that, Sydney is still my favorite. However, in 2014 i visited NZ as i visited Sydney, Brisbane again. This time i already changed my favorite, i think i will not change it anymore.
ReplyDeleteEven while the plane was approaching land with those snowcaps below the clouds, i am already mesmerized. But the 5hr trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound was the best. Oh how i wish i am still younger so i can stay there too.
Wonderful views Marja - so glad you're having a happy time with your brother and family ... Happy New Year - cheers Hilary

ReplyDeleteNew Zealand is so beautiful! Thank you so much for all these wonderful pictures, it remembers me to the time we were there already 19 years ago now.
ReplyDeleteWish you a Very Good 2017!
Devil’s Punchbowl looks to be quite a challenging hike … thank goodness there’s some cafes up top for a treat. The snowy mountains remind me of home a bit. I’m used to see this only from a distance but this year we had some snow at our feet in South West BC.
ReplyDeleteMarja these views are stunning and spectacular and just as good with your phone.. Love Devil's Punchbowl waterfall and to see the snow on top of those mountains.. Just loved them.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful Happy 2017 Marja.. May it bring you Happiness, Health, and Much Joy.. Love and hugs.. I loved your visit over at Dreamwalker's..

ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in the Travel Tuesday meme. Happy New Year!
Beautiful pictures! They are so peaceful I could look at them for hours. Reminds me that I have been cooped at the house for far too long and need to get out.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so refreshing Marja. I feel I'm breathing in the cool mountain air as I look at them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited the North Island since 1995 and seeing these beautiful photos makes me want to take a trip there again. New Zealand is so unspoiled......a slice of heaven.
