Furry friends
She opened
the window near her bed
inviting the outside world
The sun's arm reaches inside,
walking its fingers over the floor,
sweeping out the dark gloom
sparkles scattered in her room
Friendly bird chatter shifts silence
inviting the outside world
The sun's arm reaches inside,
walking its fingers over the floor,
sweeping out the dark gloom
sparkles scattered in her room
Friendly bird chatter shifts silence
the distant barking of the border collie
blended with her joy as he dashed in
with a wag of his tail and a little wail.
He nuzzled under her arm, warmly welcomed
his head nestled in the cup of her hand
blended with her joy as he dashed in
with a wag of his tail and a little wail.
He nuzzled under her arm, warmly welcomed
his head nestled in the cup of her hand
Then Cupid the cat
leaped onto the bed,
twirling as in a pirouette
created a dimple in the sheets,
twirling as in a pirouette
created a dimple in the sheets,
curled up, purring softly
She basked in the quiet touch of her fur
She basked in the quiet touch of her fur
As her furry friends rest with her
she doesn't stir the morning hush
she nourishes the glint of trust
she doesn't stir the morning hush
she nourishes the glint of trust
she closes her eyes once more
surrendering to serenity
surrendering to serenity

What a lovely, idylic scene of animal friendship! The chattering bird, the barking dog, the silent, inviting cat - all on one bed in the room warmed by the sunrays penetrating through the window. We, humans can learn a lot about friendship, from this little scene.
