A few weeks ago I went on a big tour with my husband and brother from Holland on the South Island of NZ and my favourite place to stay was in harihari.
We had to skip some of the West Coast as one day it was pouring down with rain non-stop so we arrived a bit early at the teapot cottage where we could take shelter. It was such a gorgeous little cottage. (I choose one on every holiday)
The cottage time warped us to the fifties. There was no TV, no internet and retro where ever you look.
Outside there was plenty to see and we received a lovely tour around the property by one of the owners who live next door. They are quite self sufficient and have a huge hothouse to grow vegetables.
It was a bliss without the modern technology. We played fetch with their sweet dog and had a walk in the bush We enjoyed listening to the vinyls of Abba and the Bee Gees on a radiogram. You could also read one of the many books available or play dress-up as the wardrobe was full of cool cloths. So a wet day turned into a lot of fun.
Enjoy your fan! Its a must have addition in a warm country.
ReplyDeleteThe teapot cottage in Harihari sounds like a funny place without modern technology, but fit for a proper vacation.
It looks so cute and fun
ReplyDeleteI think it would be wonderful if everyone could step back in time occasionally Marja.
ReplyDeleteFinding pleasure in simplicity is certainly a blessing.
Thanks for sharing your South Island experience my friend.
