For Monday Murals by Sami
These two are part of the same mural. The mural was a collaboration between Dcypher/XL Street Murals, Jacob Yikes and IkarusDTR Crew.
On the first picture you see Canterbury College, which is now the Art Center.
On the second you see Nobel Laureate, Ernest Rutherford who studied at Canterbury College in the 1890's. He discovered the atomic structure.
Rutherford won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1908 and became the first person to split the atom in 1917
The mural is located on 186 Tuam Street in Christchurch city
Canterbury College
Ernest Rutherford
Interesting murals. Rutherford is well-known for his discoveries. The Nobel Prize website says he won in 1908.

Delete...Marja, this mural has amazing detail.Ernest Rutherford was leader and a head of his time. Thanks for sharing and enjoy a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteFabulous murals. I remember seeing loads of beautiful murals in NZ just after the earthquake.
ReplyDeleteBoth murals are fabulous to look at. The portrait below is certainly a masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteZe zijn allebei mooi. Knap gemaakt en dan ook nog interessant. Ik bedoel ik kende de naam van die Rutherford wel, maar nu weet ik het weer echt
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautifully done. All those bricks in the college mural, wow! Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Marja.
ReplyDeleteDat zijn een paar mooie daar.
ReplyDeleteHa Marja!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful murals. Rutherford was a genius and deserved to win the Nobel.
ReplyDeleteLove murals. What a lovely way to decorate bare walls.
