Magaly from Poets and Story tellers United invited us to write poetry or prose that includes a silver lining, or an advantage that comes from a difficult or unpleasant situation.
A Silver Lining
You have been fighting for someone or something
My life covered with blood, dust, and tears
You look at your scars and suddenly you see
symbols of courage, competence, and wisdom
You know
that when you are ready to leave
the dark cave of suffering, you feel like holding people
in a soft embrace, as they know what you know
They embrace your softness as they feel what you feel
This is the
silver lining and when the sun breaks the ice
a mirror appears, reflecting who we are
The ripples of others bring a glimmer of light
as we wade through the mud and sing our songs
Our
laughter charms the skies above us
Our pain dissolves in the space between us
It fills with love, the pearl in our shell of truth
A place where we learn to march together
as one
Marja Blom
Lovely, Marja! You've creatively shown how optimism can be found on the journey to empathy.
ReplyDeleteDear Marja, togetherness is always a silver lining - your poem is powerful and tender at the same time. Beautiful, and the photo matches it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your email, I just answered it!
Arohanui 🙋😘 and get well soon,

When fighting for people or a cause, the misery of pain and tears makes us see the courage and wisdom behind it. The light , laughter and songs that come afterwards, dissolve our pain, teaching us softly to embrace each other, and march together as one.
ReplyDeleteA poem of love for people.
A fun to read poem, Marja. I like best your line, "Our laughter charms the skies above us." Must be a very pleasant laugh to be able to charm.
ReplyDelete..

ReplyDeletea mirror appears, reflecting who we are - that's beautiful.. we do become a truer version of ourselves as we work our way out of adversity...
Profound and wise!
ReplyDeleteYour poem reads positive and energising
ReplyDelete'A place where we learn to march together as one' is finest line, though the other ones are not less.
ReplyDeleteLovely words, Marja!
ReplyDeletePositive ending. I like "marching together".
Hope all are ready for this!
...I believe in silver linings!
ReplyDeleteYes. There is light after the dark cave and sometimes a mirror reflection so we can see the truth. I like the happy closing.
ReplyDeleteThis is my latest favorite or yours. I feel its veracity, its hope, its power to make things (and people) better. Reading it is a warm shower after the cold.
