Christmas

The prompt for Palavras Aladas - Winged Words is Christmas

Christmas

I string words like stars
decorating a Christmas tree.
Stars like poets gathered
around a table and beyond,
creating garlands
of poems of beauty, of wisdom,
of lyrics that sing.

The world needs poems,
and the spirit of Christmas,
for it has lost its soul,
its sorrow bleeding through us.
So we stitch its wounds,
set up trees with flickering lights,
and sing our carols.

We toast to the planting
of seeds of joy,
of seeds of renewal
We gather
and celebrate
to create peace
from shreds of fabric
and wish each other
a very Merry Christmas.

Then we let our small lights
rise together
slowly
softly
into a new constellation
of hope.

A Merry Christmas to everyone

Marja ❤️

  3. Christmas comes and goes like any other time in our house. When I hear friends and neighbours already stressed by it all, I am very glad that it does. I certainly don’t need a date on a calendar to wish people well.

You're absolutely right, the world needs poems and the spirit of Christmas. I agree with you: let's toast to planting seeds of joy so that they shine in the sky and form a great constellation of hope.
