The prompt for What’s Going On is about wishes for the New Year, about any fresh start. There are many things we have no control over. However when you live with awareness, every decision can be a fresh start. So I wish that your decisions will send you on the right path.😀
Every Decision is a doorway
Every decision is a doorway
to a new beginning
Every decision you make
creates a different strand
You are the weaver of your world
of many unseen threads.
I know,
you can’t choose your challenges.
Some cut into the flesh of your being.
but you still have the freedom
to act or to react,
to trust your
hands know the work,
or to wrap yourself in a blanket of care
and to know the sky
will still hold the stars for you.
There are small decisions to make.
Listen to the honeyed echo of your values.
Ask if your words will soften
what they touch,
falling like velvet rain on hard earth.
Know the ground remembers
every kindness.
There are big decisions to make.
Insecurity fills your mind.
Doors close.
There will be new stones
you can stumble on,
but your journey will also be stitched
with invisible gold
you only see
when you look back.

This is very lovely, Marja. I especially love the blanket of care and knowing the sky will still hold the stars for you. I also can see the groundswell everywhere of good hearts, rising in resistance to the darkness surrounding us - so many more good hearts than the cruel ones. Hopefully this can tilt the balance back the other way. We live in hope. (Have you seen on facebook the beautiful monks, walking across the USA for peace and compassion? They are making a difference, reaching hearts, simply by walking - and being - peace.)
ReplyDeleteThanks and no I haven't seen it. That's beautiful. I check it out.

You make this vivid with large decisions and small ones, listening "to the honeyed echo of your values." Beautiful.
There are too many beautiful images to highlight - they shine - and from the title and picture at the start you had me opening those doorways with you - so thank you! Jae
ReplyDeleteMarja, this is so beautiful. I agree with Jae Rose. You had me opening those doors with you. Beautiful image and poem.
ReplyDelete"but you still have the freedom
ReplyDeleteto act or to react,".... The lines echo my own belief that instead of reacting we need to respond correctly and also to never forget "...the honeyed echo of your values". How assuring is the feeling that "the sky / will still hold the stars for you." I love how the poem radiates positive vibes. Beautiful, Marja.
Lindo teu poema,Marja!
ReplyDeleteMuito linda para um ano iniciar e tentar rtomar as decisões certas na vida! beijos, tudo de bom, chica
...and we need to open the right doors in life!
ReplyDeleteDelightful poetry, and in so many ways reflective of the human condition. The other day I saw a fellow in a wheelchair, extremely disabled with a hand bent back, his mouth drooping and obviously severely afflicted. I wonder how many stars the sky holds for him. Asteroids hurling towards destruction might be more apropos.
ReplyDeleteI love to think of life decisions as openings rather than closures. What a lovely hopeful poem to start the New Year. :)
ReplyDeletePrachtige zinnen: 'You are the weaver of your world
ReplyDeleteof many unseen threads.' En dan die foto erbij. Het leven is met kleine draden aan elkaar verweven. Ik vind de beeldspraak mooi en het geeft houvast.
Dank voor je bemoedigende woorden, telkens weer.
Hi Marja - they're stunning openings that we're all considering ... what thoughts you've given us ... decisions in our lives are so frequent ... sometimes we think, sometimes we wait and try to make the best choice. As Penelope states - 'a lovely hopeful poem to start the New Year' - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI really love the idea that every new decision is a doorway. I had never thought about that before, but that is oh so true! Every decision leads somewhere. Thanks for your wonderful thoughts.
