Riccarton Market

This morning we went to the Riccarton Sunday market with over 300 stalls. I like the huzzle and buzzle of markets and love hunting for bargains. I was successful within the first minute. I found a framed poster of "a sidewalk cafe at night" by Vincent van Gogh for the price of $6. Vincent is one of my favourite painters, but more about him later. this week. Happy as Larry I spent the rest of my time on an adventure.

First I came along a stall with beautiful, but sad frogs. There was no princess to buy them. The princess was trapped in a cave guarded by a dragon.

That's why I went to a wonderful stall with a knight who sold shining armour.

This could be used in a mission to free the princess.

Next I visited a stall with the best smelling Potpourri ever. This could be used to lure the dragon away from the cave.
After long consideration we decided however to spent our money on a nice lunch. Therefore the frogs are still sitting there waiting to be bought.

  3. Do you have any idea who originally painted the picture of the lady with the knight in the tapestry behind your knight? I've seen it before and it is very beautiful.

  7. Steve, you're welcome

Yeh its a fun market with many different things

    Thanks Paris Parfait

Wynn I have no clue but I thought is was pretty too.

Than you're already gone for a while Meggie. The market is on the grounds of Riccarton Race course

It does Erik and it gets bigger every time. They added a field with food stands around. You can eat on the grass while listening to music.

Loved the frogs too Steffi. The salesman even arranged them for me so it was more colourful.
