All people passing Lake Tekapo had a great time building towers on the beach. This was only one of many. William left a few behind as well.
The Hooker Valley track by Mount Cook was also on the agenda.
We spend the night in the small town Omarama famous for it's gliding as it is said to be the best mountain soaring side in the world. As a scouting leader years ago I had a go as well, as one of the leaders was a pilot. I only enjoyed the fantastic scenery after being sick. One of the kids went into a brand new plane where they hadn't put up any bags yet. The complete plane was decorated by him. Poor kid.
Love the rivers meandering through the rugged landscape
Next a coffee at New Zealand's oldest Hotel. A highlight for William as he could talk about motorbikes again.
I always wanted to make a picture of these hay bales. Our friend fulfilled my wish by entering a farmers road so I could made this shot.
A bonus was that there were just a couple of paragliders jumping of the hill.
What breath-taking scenery! And weren't you lucky with the weather. I always love those round hay bales too; so glad you got a picture of them.

ReplyDeleteYou have amazing nature and landscapes in NZ. Must be so wonderful to drive around there. You can be lucky to have so much space there. We don't have that here anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis is all so beautiful and breathtaking. It is on the South Island isn't it? I remember Wanaka and Queensland. Beautiful lake and city!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures - I think the hay bales make for good images.
ReplyDeleteBut the landscape as a whole in the real winner.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I especially like the view on the way to Arrowtown and Queenstown. I was drawn in by the hay bale photo, which looks like it could have been taken here: Virginia, U.S.A. http://www.looseleafnotes.com/2013/04/the-thrill-of-daffodil-the-poetry-of-tea/
