2013.........a bad year

Family is very important to me and I have always spend a lot of time with my great husband and beautiful children. I didn't work for a while to be there for my kids but as the children became older they went their own way. I started to focus more and more on work. I still spend time in the weekend with my husband, going for a stroll at the beach or to the bush.
The thing is however that when you are married for a long time, you start to take things for granted and you are not aware of what you have.
That changed

I recently went to hospital and had a blood cloth in each lung but it got picked up in time and things are getting better. Last week however our doctor told my husband that he thought that he has cancer. We have to wait and see what happens. We decided to make the best of it and whatever happens we'll try to enjoy life and each other. Next week my husband and I go to Tonga for a week. I had one more test on Monday and just got the green light that we are allowed to go. Yippee! We look forwards to it. It is the first time that it is only the two of us going on holiday. In the past our kids, family or friends went with us. It will be great. My daughter comes home from Wellington in three weeks and it will be good to have her here as well.

As my focus is totally with them again I am socially not very good at the moment. I keep up with my work but not doing a real great job I think.
I will be back to you all in a while, for now arohanui and take care!

  1. I'm sorry to hear about the health problems in your family. It's not easy to deal with, sometimes. I will keep you in my prayers.

I recently developed a physical problem but I have to say that, until now, I haven't had any major problems with my body and I am very grateful for that.

  4. Oh that's such a shame. I hope you can soon put it all behind you. Enjoy your holiday and stay positive. I wonder why it is that troubles never come singly!

  7. Hi Marja .. I'm pleased you're recovering - and I sincerely hope whatever your husband has can be dealt with .. so often the doctors can help us, as we help ourselves: all the most positive thoughts in that direction.

The week in Tonga sounds just glorious ... and then having family around makes the most sense - just being together ..

.. but we're here when you need a quick dose of blogging .. cheers Hilary

  18. I wish for you and your husband all the best and am glad they caught your blood clots in time. Some years ago I had a DVT (deep vein thrombosis)a blood clot in my leg and took blood thinners for a time. I hope not to ever have it happen again. Be strong and know that even if the news is not what you would want for your husband things can turn out alright. My partner is a cancer survivor for three years now and doing well. She did lose her job recently but is looking for work and I feel things will be even better than before. Times seem hard once in awhile but one can overcome. I am sending you and your family Angels to keep watch as you go through this time together. Take Care.
