A poem for poetry pantry
Your name
I cling to the sound
of the syllables in your name
I call them out loud into the woods
listen for the echo of your being
I pause when the wind
whispers your name
into silvery chimes
till it presents a poem
When tracing your name
in soft sand, I think of
your touch, a soothing vibration,
gently growing in crescendo
Your name a signature
of love, placed upon my heart
igniting a fire inside, burning
wild wood till silence lingers
Oh how I love the bliss of your kiss
love the smile etched in your eyes
I carve your name into the moon,
let it shine into an ocean of emotion
This night, before I can say
your name, the sky gets decorated
with a thousand shining stars
when you take me in your arms
A beautiful love poem, Marja! I especially love the lines:
ReplyDelete‘I pause when the wind
whispers your name
into silvery chimes
till it presents a poem’
and the internal rhyme of ‘the bliss of your kiss’.
Perfect words to express love.
ReplyDeleteHow great it was to read this poem Marja; absolutely delightful.
ReplyDeleteMarja, this is sooo sweet. I especially like the lines, "Your name a signatureof love, placed upon my heart igniting a fire inside, ..."
ReplyDeleteOne of my trademarks I have and share with Mrs. Jim is a hand drawn heart with an arrow though it and the words, "(her name), you stole my heart." I started this shortly after we married and have carried one in my Bible now for 47 years.) Sitting at church, if the pages come open to its haphazard place (some days I search for it), I take it out to show her. She then shows the sweetest smile, every time.
..
Name in the stars. After my brothers died in 2001, their names were like a part of themselves that they left behind and jsut seeing their names made me cry.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lush and lovely expression of love.
ReplyDeleteI resonate so deeply with this poem, Marja! Especially love; "When tracing your name in soft sand, I think of your touch, a soothing vibration, gently growing in crescendo." Woww! 💘
ReplyDeleteLovely! A wonderful tribute to love.
ReplyDeleteWow! That was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove and names are two major topics in our life.
ReplyDeleteIn your poem, the name is a signature of love,
whispered by the wind, sketched in the sand, carved in the moon.
Kiss and smile naturally accompany Love and its general feeling of bliss.
How we speak the name in whispers, in loud tones, we even try it and tie ourselves to it as unmarried girls Mrs ... ☺. Wow what a perfect love poem.
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped by my sumie Sunday Marja

Just lovely in every way, and the repetition of 'your name' is very effective.

ReplyDeleteA lovely immersion into romance! Beautifully worded.
ReplyDeleteOf a name, pulled into the heart and cannot escape. This has both a sadness and joy about it and it feels right both ways.
ReplyDeleteLovely words and rhythm

ReplyDeleteA lovely , sensual poem :') how a simple name can do so much!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful poem from you Marja, you are so talented. It is so sweet, lovely and romantic. What is the name? It does not matter if it’s the name of the loved one.
ReplyDeleteMy first name is unpronounceable in the US – I don’t think anyway would write a poem on it!
Lovely and lyrical words.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful love poem, written from the heart.
ReplyDeleteA delight to read Marja.
