Shared with What's going on: Our topic is kinship with the world and all its beings - just one, among all the other beings. You might take a walk and see what you can find that's struggling to survive in our noisy midst. Brief moments of awareness and delight.
Pick whatever your eyes land on and tell us about it. What makes you catch your breath today? Small universes, or large. A world of kin.
Some Days
To the small miracles that need no reason.
Some days, bells ring crisper,
cutting through the air with clarity.
People add notes to your song,
carrying melodies
that make your heart sing.
Some days, the fragrance
of jasmine bedazzles you,
and flowers, bursting red and blue,
reveal their intricate shapes.
each petal a line of poetry
Some days, the air shifts
and runs its hand through your hair.
The waves kiss your feet,
then retreat in joy.
The warm sand crackles in delight
as it carries you.
Some days, your heart
overflows into the world.
Let the earth remember
your footsteps.
Shake dreams from your sleeve,
colour the world
with your heart.
Everyone should have this connection to the natural world and rejoice in its affirmation of life. Sadly, too many have totally lost it. I hope that I have coloured the world with my heart.
ReplyDelete...small miracles can have big impacts on our lives.
ReplyDeleteNice poem, Marja. I like the wind blowing in the hair best. YES, she was four years old and we were in South Hampton, U.K. She is 16 now and drives her own car.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of places that fed their pumpkins to their pigs. Didn't know the Netherlands was that way.

Very nice poem, Marja! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWarme herfstgroet.
Another lovely poem.
ReplyDeleteHi Marja - lovely ... some of us are so lucky and we should be rejoicing - can't say I am today ... cold and wet!! But I cannot complain ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteAs I read the middle two stanzas of the poem, I got lost in the nature. So much of mindfulness in this poem.... loved it!

I could quote the entire poem back to you. It's so seductively simple and close and touching. Beautiful!
"Colour the world with your heart." How this resonates with me, Marja. I feel that joy sooften - the shape of a cloud, the power of the waves, happy dogs on the beach.........I love your poem so much! So glad you shared it at What's Going On. It's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteSome days we don't need a reason or a season. We just need to see and feel the beauty around us.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured these small miracles in a heartful way. How lovely to honor them in this vein of gratitude. My favorite lines : "colour the world / with your heart."
ReplyDeleteYour poem made my heart sing, Marja!
