Breathing cool
A cosy shop window
in Akaroa,
a basket of hats.
a flat black cap,
warm,
already mine.
Not me, yet breathing cool
the kind of cool
of writers and poets,
journalists drinking,
conspiring for joy.
Air brimming with
paper and coffee.
Lines scribbled on napkins,
a hum of shared stories,
warmth found in words.
I place the cap on my head,
walk past the cafe
the door opens:
'Marja, join us.'
Nice one! (the poem!) - Hat suits you very well and that is a wonderful smile (your photo) :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Marja - I agree with intelliblog - great smile, matching hat .. and fun ideas through the cap on your head! Lots of thoughts - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThat’s a great photo, Marja; I’ve always thought of that style of hat as a baker boy hat. Cool indeed, and evocative of café life. I love the lines:
